Smiley Faces and Sticky Fingers

Image
Campfire s’mores were the order of the day. Smiley faces and sticky fingers all round! Orange Class have come so far in their Forest School sessions, with everyone confidently and independently toasting their marshmallows today. The children chatted happily whilst around the campfire, helped each other and reminded each other of our fire safety rules.

Bugs everywhere!

The warm, damp weather brought the bugs out to play today! Red Class discovered what a diverse habitat our forest area is. We enjoyed finding and observing a range of creepy crawly creatures. We thought about why bugs might like living in a particular habitat such as under a log and we sure to gently return them to their natural habitats.

Red and Orange Team Up!

Red and orange classes loved their joint session this week. We started with some Forest School games on the field. 'Giants, witches and elves' was very popular and I'm sure we will have lots of requests to play it again! Then we headed into the forest area for some tree climbing, pond dipping, crafting fun. Some of the  children found a newt today, which was very exciting.

Preparing fruit, planting and pond dipping

Rain didn’t stop play for Orange Class today. The children loved chopping their own fruit and eating their healthy snacks, using the knives safely and responsibly. Miss Villalba looked after pond dipping and Millie’s mum kindly brought compost, pots and seeds in for everyone to plant their own sunflowers! And we all kept (mostly) dry in our super duper waterproofs!
